Lou Raye is a business coach and trainer of coaches. She has coached over 200 managers and other professionals to advance their careers and improve performance by working effectively with reports and enhancing relationships with peers and bosses. She helps small business owners ensure their business is headed in directions they want and deal with tactical issues such as staff utilization and managing conflict. She mentors coaches seeking ICF ACC or PCC certification. She is co-founder and director of the North Carolina State University Business Coaching Certificate program, a ten month course which trains managers and other professionals to become internal or external business coaches.
Lou Raye has headed and built two organizations. She started the Training Organization for the North of England for a London-based international organization. She developed and marketed programs, hired staff, and oversaw delivery of services. This profit center was in the black in its third year.
In North Carolina , as Executive Director of Leadership Triangle, she managed board relationships, programs, and communications. She developed and facilitated programs to help emerging and established leaders from across the Research Triangle area become effective at the regional level. This involved developing capacity for values-based leadership, systems thinking, and working across boundaries. Under her leadership, the position grew from half-time to full-time.
Lou Raye has been a middle manager. Before her promotion to the regional training role, she led a team of five reports in the same organization. She understands well the balance middle managers must hold on a daily basis between the demands of bosses and reports.
Lou Raye is an International Coach Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach (PCC). She has a Masters Degree in Training and Development and is qualified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. She was President of the Triangle Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development in 2001 and of the ICF Raleigh Area Chapter in 2006.
